Broken speedometer cable fitting
	The threaded piece on some newer speedometer cables is extremely fragile. Mine broke in half while being tightened. In fact, this has happened twice. One solution is what you see here; a sleeve made from heater hose, securely held in place with a hose clamp. This was meant to be temporary until a new cable was available, and it's been like this for three years.
